The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has called on the Muslim Ummah to use this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration as an opportunity to pray for Nigeria's unity and prosperity.

Abbas, who is currently participating in the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, made this appeal through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Musa Krishi.

Call for Sacrifice and National Development

The Speaker emphasized the importance of imbibing the spirit of sacrifice, which he described as one of the hallmarks of the Sallah celebrations. He extended this admonition to all Nigerians, urging both personal and collective sacrifices for the nation's development and growth.

"Through prayers, selflessness, dedication, and renewed hope, we shall overcome our challenges as a nation," Abbas stated.

Perspective on Current Challenges

The Speaker further encouraged Nigerians to view the current socio-economic challenges as temporary sacrifices that would eventually lead to a more prosperous country under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

His message comes as Muslims across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, one of Islam's most significant festivals commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.

The celebration, which coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage, serves as a reminder of faith, obedience, and sacrifice—values that the Speaker believes are essential for national cohesion and progress during these challenging times.
