The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has announced comprehensive security arrangements for the Eid-ul-Kabir celebration, deploying specialized units across the state to ensure public safety.
According to a statement released on Thursday, specialized units including SWAT, Monitoring, Anti-Kidnapping, and Anti-Cultism squads have been strategically positioned at key locations throughout Ogun State to prevent crime and ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration.
Strategic Deployment Plan
The security arrangement covers praying grounds, public facilities, banks, and recreational centers statewide. CP Ogunlowo has also enhanced extended patrols in collaboration with sister agencies at identified flash points including Onigari, Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, and Abeokuta.
"The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo Ph.D., has deployed extensive motorized patrol and tactical assets across the state to ensure a crime-free Sallah," stated police spokesperson Omolola Odutola in the release made available to BenriNews.
The statement further explained that Divisional Police Officers, under the supervision of Area Commanders, will actively patrol their jurisdictions while joint task force operations with sister agencies will secure border towns.
Call for Public Cooperation
While extending his felicitations to Muslim faithful celebrating the festival, Commissioner Ogunlowo implored citizens to cooperate with all security agencies to ensure a safer environment during the celebration period.
Officers will be conducting stop-and-search operations as part of the heightened security measures to maintain peace and order throughout the festive period.
