Operatives of the Kano State Fire Service have successfully retrieved the body of a 33-year-old man, Muhammed Sagir, from inside a dry well at Kawon Arewa in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, was confirmed in a statement issued to the press by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Thursday.
According to Abdullahi, "We received a distress call from Sabi'u Muhammed at about 12:42 p.m. that a body was found inside a dry well at Kawon Alhaji Sani Layin Mai Unguwa. On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene."
The victim's remains were successfully brought out of the well and handed over to the ward head of Kawon Arewa, Alhaji Hamisu.
The Fire Service spokesperson added that the cause of the incident is currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
This incident comes amid other recent developments in Kano State, including a foiled robbery attempt on the Toro/Jos highway in neighboring Bauchi State and ongoing investigations into other security matters in the region.
