The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, broke official protocol during a project inspection tour to acknowledge primary school children and teachers who were cheering him from their school premises.
The unexpected interaction occurred while the Minister was inspecting the Interchange and sections of Gishiri Road in Abuja. Upon noticing Wike's presence, pupils and teachers at Foursquare New Heights Academy in Gishiri began enthusiastically hailing him.
Moved by their warm reception, Wike deviated from his scheduled inspection to approach the school, where he shook hands with the children and staff and posed for photographs.
Speaking to journalists after the encounter, Wike expressed satisfaction with the public's response to ongoing development projects in the capital city.
"We are happy. We are very, very happy that the people of Abuja are happy," the Minister stated. "You can see the joy of the children, and they are all feeling the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda."
Infrastructure Development Under Wike's Leadership
Since his appointment as FCT Minister, Wike has been actively involved in infrastructure development across Abuja, focusing on road construction, bridge building, and the restoration of the capital city's master plan.
His administration's efforts have resulted in numerous completed projects that are now ready for commissioning. President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to officially commission these projects beginning June 10.
The Minister's hands-on approach to project supervision has become a hallmark of his leadership style in the FCT, with regular inspection tours to ensure quality and timely completion of infrastructure developments.
This recent interaction with school children highlights the public's growing awareness and appreciation of the ongoing transformation efforts in Nigeria's capital territory under the current administration.
