Nigerian singer Folarin Falana, professionally known as Falz, has publicly denied having any relationship with controversial crossdresser Bobrisky amid his ongoing defamation lawsuit against social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Speaking during an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday evening, Falz provided an update on the legal proceedings while addressing rumors about his connection to Bobrisky that emerged after VDM leaked an alleged phone conversation between the singer and the crossdresser last year.

Legal Battle Updates

"Update on the court case, very much still in court. There's a substantive suit which myself and my dad are alleging defamation. We filed the case and ever since we filed the case, they have never entered the defense," Falz explained.

According to the singer, VDM's legal team initially filed a preliminary objection claiming the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case. However, Falz revealed that the court has since thrown out this objection, requiring VDM to now enter a defense or face the court's ruling on the case.

Clarifying His Connection With Bobrisky

Addressing the speculation about his relationship with Bobrisky, Falz categorically denied having any prior connection with the crossdresser before the controversial phone call.

"I never had any relationship with Bobrisky prior to that phone call. He messaged me on Instagram and said, 'I'm in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help,'" Falz stated, explaining that he receives thousands of similar messages requesting assistance.

"This is not a special case; it's not exceptional in any way. In a lot of those cases, I will give them an audience, like what is the P, how can I help? Compassionately. Little did I know," he added.

The singer expressed that the experience has made him more cautious about offering help, saying, "As they say, once bitten, twice shy. At the end of the day, I'm not going to, maybe I'm not going to help anyone again in my life, but maybe I will be much more conscious."

BenriNews reports that the controversy began when VeryDarkMan leaked what he claimed was a phone conversation between Falz and Bobrisky while the latter was in prison, leading to widespread speculation about the singer's sexuality.

The defamation suit filed by Falz and his father continues to progress through the Nigerian legal system, with the next steps dependent on VDM's legal response.
