The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will personally commission two projects within Abuja satellite towns as part of activities marking the President's second year in office.

Speaking during an inspection of project sites on Wednesday, Wike revealed that President Tinubu will inaugurate 10 of the 17 completed projects across the territory, with special attention given to satellite communities.

"Mr. President has agreed to commission two of the satellite towns projects in person. He wants residents to see the impact of federal governance firsthand," Wike stated.

Commissioning Schedule and High-Profile Participation

According to the FCT Minister, the commissioning ceremonies will commence on June 10 with the reopening of the rehabilitated Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC) and continue through the end of the month.

The remaining projects will be commissioned by other top government officials. Vice President Kashim Shettima will stand in for the President at three installations, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will each oversee the commissioning of two projects.

"All of them will have a reason to go to the satellite towns and let the people see their president and the leadership of the country," Wike explained, emphasizing the administration's commitment to developing areas beyond the city center.

The focus on satellite towns represents a significant shift in development priorities, bringing much-needed attention to communities that have often felt neglected in previous infrastructure drives within the Federal Capital Territory.

While specific details about the satellite town projects were not disclosed, the initiative appears to align with the administration's broader agenda of inclusive development and infrastructure expansion across the FCT.
