The Apo-Wasa road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on Friday as President Bola Tinubu commissions the newly constructed road project.

According to a statement by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, traders and mechanics at the Apo Mechanic Village have voluntarily decided to close their shops to participate in the commissioning ceremony and give the President a warm welcome.

"Consequently, the traders and mechanic associations have directed their members to close shops tomorrow, and resume business on Saturday," the statement read.

Road Project Details

The infrastructure being commissioned is the newly constructed Left-Hand Service Carriageway of Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Stage II, which runs from Ring Road I (RRI) Junction to Wasa Junction. President Tinubu is scheduled to commission the project at 2:30 pm.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during the closure period. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that traffic enforcement personnel will be deployed to affected areas to guide motorists and minimize inconvenience.

"The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) pleads with road users that will be affected by this temporary closure to bear with the government, while using alternative routes," the statement added.

This commissioning represents another milestone in infrastructure development within the Federal Capital Territory under the current administration.
