The Amotekun Corps in Osun State has apprehended several suspects involved in drug-related offences and armed robbery in different parts of the state.

During a suspect parade at the Osun Amotekun headquarters in Osogbo on Tuesday, Corps Commander CSP Isaac Omoyele (rtd) presented the arrested individuals to the public.

Drug Offenders Arrested in Ejigbo

Five suspects were arrested for drug-related offences following a tip-off from a concerned citizen. The suspects were identified as 29-year-old Makanjuola Sodiq, 25-year-old Jide Ojo, 29-year-old Toheeb Moruf, 20-year-old Azeez Abdulai, and 25-year-old Ademola Kehinde.

According to Omoyele, "After we received information from a good Samaritan of a vulnerable point in Ejigbo where different types of drugs are being dispersed, Amotekun Narcotic Squad moved in a commando-like manner and arrested the above-named suspects with Cannabis Sativa, known as Indian hemp."

The commander added that the suspects are currently assisting the security agency in their efforts to apprehend other criminals in the area.

Armed Robbery Suspects Nabbed in Osogbo

In a separate operation, the Amotekun Corps arrested two armed robbery suspects in the Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo. The suspects, 30-year-old Shogo Oriade and 28-year-old Asimiyu Toheeb, were apprehended following a distress call about a robbery in progress.

"On May 31, 2025, at 4:10 hrs, we responded to a distress call about a robbery in progress in the Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo. Although the suspects initially evaded capture, our intelligence team tracked and apprehended them," Omoyele explained.

During interrogation, both suspects reportedly confessed to the robbery and admitted to having committed similar crimes in the past. Legal proceedings have already commenced against them.

Call for Public Vigilance

Commander Omoyele urged residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and continue supporting the efforts of the security agency. He emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to the Amotekun Corps or other relevant security agencies in the state.

The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Amotekun Corps to combat crime and ensure safety across Osun State, particularly in addressing drug trafficking and armed robbery incidents that affect local communities.
