Yeye Animashaun Abimbola Abdul, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Women Leader in the United Kingdom, has reaffirmed her loyalty and commitment to the party leadership, emphasizing her continued dedication despite political challenges.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Abdul stressed the importance of keeping her followers informed about her position on political affairs within the PDP and Nigerian politics both domestically and internationally.
"I remain focused on my future without distractions," the politician declared, noting that while she owes no debt of loyalty to anyone, she has chosen to remain a PDP member and democrat both at home and in the diaspora to support sustainable human capital development in Nigeria.
22 Years of Selfless Service
Abdul highlighted her two-decade-long commitment to the party, stating, "I did not eat PDP or PDP Aspirants penny for over 22 years of my active participation in PDP political activities in the UK and Nigeria. The records are there in the UK chapter of the PDP and Alimosho Local Government Area and Lagos State in Nigeria."
She further emphasized that she had invested her personal resources in developing the PDP's UK Chapter during her tenure as National Women Leader, serving "meritoriously and selflessly without prejudices to our diversities at home and diaspora."
Upon returning to Lagos State, particularly Alimosho Local Government Area, Abdul continued her support for PDP development and humanitarian initiatives, demonstrating her commitment to the party's growth.
Position on PDP Leadership
Regarding internal party politics, Abdul maintained her loyalty to the PDP leadership that was considered legitimate at the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja on May 27, 2025.
Looking ahead to the 2027 presidential elections, the former UK women leader asserted her constitutional right to align with "the most viable alternative presidential candidate" to challenge the incumbent APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
"I have made up my mind to announce my choice of PDP presidential candidate whom I shall support as usual in a month's time from now," Abdul revealed, adding that her decision would be guided by informed political considerations as preparations for the 2027 presidential primaries and general elections begin.
