The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has issued a stern warning to its members against accepting political appointments from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government without proper authorization.

In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, the party threatened to deregister any member who violates this directive.

"No member of the party is permitted to accept appointments from the incumbent state government without an approval from the APC's National Working Committee, NWC," the public notice stated.

Constitutional Basis for the Warning

The party cited Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution (Amended 2022), which explicitly states that "A person shall cease to be a member of the party if he accepts political appointment from another political party in government without the approval of the National Working Committee."

To enforce this policy, the APC has directed its 168 ward chairmen to immediately remove the names of affected individuals from the party's register. Additionally, chairmen in all 16 local government councils have been mandated to identify members who have accepted positions in the PDP-led government and prevent them from participating in the upcoming electronic registration exercise.

Commitment to Loyal Members

El-Sudi reiterated the party's commitment to loyal and principled members, assuring them that their dedication would be recognized and rewarded in due time.

"We thank all principled and law-abiding members for remaining steadfast and patient," the notice read.

BenriNews observed that the warning comes after several APC members were included in a long list of aides recently appointed by the incumbent state governor, a situation that has apparently not gone down well with the leadership of the major opposition party in the state.
