The Amotekun Corps in Osun State has apprehended two suspects for attempted rape, including a 25-year-old serial rapist who allegedly tried to sexually assault a university student in Ila-Orangun.
Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele, revealed these arrests during a suspect parade held on Tuesday in Osogbo.
First Suspect: Serial Offender Targets University Student
According to Commander Omoyele, the first suspect, Raji Ridwan, was arrested on May 29, 2025, at approximately 9:40 PM after forcefully entering the room of a 17-year-old undergraduate at the Federal University of Health Technology, Ila-Orangun.
"The girl escaped being raped after raising alarm and running away. A complaint was lodged against his activities at the Amotekun Ila-Orangun Command, and operatives swung into action immediately, arresting him in his hideout," Omoyele stated.
Investigations by Amotekun's Intelligence and Investigation Department revealed Ridwan to be a serial rapist with no intention of reforming. The suspect reportedly confessed to previously raping one of his siblings and regularly luring young hawkers into his room to sexually assault them.
Second Suspect: Man Attempts to Rape 8-Year-Old Pupil
The second suspect, 28-year-old Abdullateef Ajao, was arrested on June 2, 2025, around 6:30 AM for attempting to rape an 8-year-old primary three pupil in Ode-Omu.
"Abdulateef Ajao was arrested for luring an 8-year-old girl, a primary 3 pupil, inside his house in Ode-Omu under the guise of buying pepper from her. The girl managed to escape and reported the incident to her parents," Commander Omoyele explained.
Following a complaint lodged at the Amotekun Ayedaade Command, operatives apprehended Ajao at his residence, where he reportedly confessed to the crime.
The Amotekun Corps Commander confirmed that both suspects will face court proceedings after investigations are completed, serving as a deterrent to others with similar intentions.
