Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has offered strategic advice to President Bola Tinubu on how to handle the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his supporters known as the Obidient Movement.
In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Omokri suggested that rather than responding to what he termed "negativity" from Obi and his supporters, the Tinubu administration should focus on highlighting its achievements and ongoing projects across the country.
"The best way for the Tinubu administration to deal with Peter Obi and his Obidients is not to respond to their negativity but to overwhelm them with positivity," Omokri stated.
Infrastructure Projects as Political Strategy
Omokri, who claimed to have recently visited Nigeria, highlighted several infrastructure projects currently underway that he believes should be showcased by the administration.
"Abuja and Lagos are a beehive of projects. Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway started from Calabar and Lagos simultaneously. Ile la-Sokoto-Badagry Expressway is ongoing. Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is being reconstructed," he noted.
The former presidential aide advised the administration to "blast this on every available media" including television, radio, print, and social media platforms to counter criticism from opposition groups.
Criticism of Obidient Movement
In his statement, Omokri also criticized supporters of Peter Obi for what he perceived as their lack of patriotism and tendency to praise foreign leaders while criticizing Nigeria.
"Look at these Obidients praising Traoré, who has not achieved up to an LCDA Chairman in Lagos. Third Mainland Bridge alone is worth half of Burkina Faso's entire GDP," Omokri claimed.
He further suggested that those who consistently criticize Nigeria should consider relocating to countries they admire, specifically mentioning Burkina Faso.
This advice comes amid ongoing political tensions between supporters of the current administration and opposition groups, particularly as the country navigates economic challenges and security concerns.
