Simone Inzaghi has officially stepped down as Inter Milan manager, just days after their crushing 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
In an emotional letter to fans released on Tuesday, Inzaghi stated: "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a run of four years during which I gave everything."
Saudi Move Beckons
The Italian tactician is now expected to take charge at Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, who have reportedly offered him an eye-watering salary package exceeding €20 million per season.
Inzaghi's departure comes after a successful tenure at Inter, highlighted by last year's Serie A title triumph. This was his second Champions League final disappointment with the club, following their 2023 loss to Manchester City.
Club World Cup Uncertainty
The timing of Inzaghi's exit creates uncertainty for Inter Milan's upcoming Club World Cup campaign in the United States, which begins on June 14. The Nerazzurri are scheduled to face Monterrey on June 17, just one day before Al Hilal's match against Real Madrid.
Inter Milan has not yet announced who will lead the team at the tournament, leaving fans wondering about the club's immediate future following this significant managerial change.
The departure marks the end of a largely successful era for Inter under Inzaghi's leadership, with the club now facing the challenge of finding a suitable replacement to maintain their competitive edge both domestically and in Europe.
