The Anambra State Police Command has successfully apprehended three suspected armed robbers and recovered two luxury vehicles allegedly stolen by the gang. The arrest took place at Agukwu-Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area on Friday, May 30, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Command's spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday in Awka, the operation was carried out by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) based in Awkuzu.
The police identified the suspects as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu, all males between the ages of 27 and 32. Their arrest followed intelligence gathered from another armed robbery suspect already in police custody.
Recovered Items
Items recovered during the operation include:
- A white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number KWC 140
- An ash-coloured Lexus 350 with registration number 669 CY
- Two exotic phones
- A pump-action gun
SP Ikenga emphasized that investigations have been expanded as the police work diligently to track down other members of the gang who remain at large.
"This development highlights the command's proactive approach towards combating all forms of crime in the state," Ikenga stated in the release.
The police spokesman also called on the public to provide credible information that would assist law enforcement in fighting crime and criminality in Anambra State.
This arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Anambra State Police Command to curb armed robbery and related crimes in the region, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
