The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year's Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government through a statement issued by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
In the statement, the Minister extended his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of the Islamic festival, also known as Sallah.
Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim during this period. He also encouraged the faithful to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
"The people-oriented reforms and initiatives being carried out in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu's Administration, is to restore Nigeria on the path of progress," the Minister stated.
The statement further called on all Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to restore the nation's glory, as the Minister wished the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
Eid-ul-Adha, one of Islam's most significant festivals, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah's command. The holiday is traditionally marked with prayers, family gatherings, and the sharing of food with the less privileged.
