Operatives of the Doma Division in Nasarawa State have successfully dismantled a notorious car snatching syndicate, arresting four suspects and recovering a stolen vehicle within hours of the crime being committed.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrests were made on June 1, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m. along the Doma-Lafia Road following actionable intelligence and swift inter-state police collaboration.
The Suspects
The four suspects arrested in the operation were identified as:
- Ibrahim Dahiru, a 30-year-old male from Angwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State
- Abdulrazaq Muhammed, a 27-year-old male also from Angwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State
- Muhammad Sani, a 28-year-old male from Potiskum, Yobe State
- Mustapha Isah, a 23-year-old male from Misau, Bauchi State
The Crime
Police investigations revealed that the syndicate was involved in an armed carjacking incident in Enugu State, where they forcefully snatched a black Toyota Venza with registration number KWL 668 GN (Abuja) at gunpoint.
Through prompt intelligence gathering and seamless coordination between state commands, the suspects were intercepted and arrested less than 24 hours after the crime was committed. The stolen vehicle was recovered at the scene of the arrest.
Police Response
Describing the operation as a "major success," the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the gallant efforts of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command's commitment to protecting lives and property across Nasarawa State.
"This arrest demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force's resolve to dismantle criminal networks and ensure that perpetrators of crimes are swiftly brought to justice," CP Mohammed stated.
The Commissioner further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible information that can assist in tackling crime in the state.
