The Progressive Youths for National Stability (PYNS) has thrown its weight behind the proposed initiative to grant automatic return tickets to performing federal lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a strategic move that would significantly boost President Bola Tinubu's re-election chances in 2027.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by its president, Comrade Aminu Mustapha Bako, the group characterized the proposal as a "masterstroke" within President Tinubu's broader strategy for political stability and sustained national development.
"This isn't about entrenching individuals; it's about entrenching progress. What we are advocating is the continuity of competence. Lawmakers who have become engines of reform, who have stood shoulder to shoulder with the President to deliver critical legislation, deserve the opportunity to finish what they started," the statement reads.
According to PYNS, the automatic tickets for trusted lawmakers will help reduce legislative turnover that often disrupts national momentum and create a more predictable environment for policy implementation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Warning Against Internal Sabotage
The group also issued a warning that the APC must guard against subtle internal sabotage, noting that leaders of an emerging anti-Tinubu coalition have been reaching out to lawmakers in attempts to fracture the party's legislative base ahead of the 2027 elections.
"These are not alliances built on ideas or national interest. They are built on personal grudges and opportunism. But what gives us confidence is that many lawmakers have remained unmoved because they know President Tinubu is not only a master strategist, but also a leader who honours his word," Bako asserted.
The youth group emphasized that the current crop of legislators are not merely allies of the President but development partners, creating a bond that the automatic ticket policy seeks to protect.
Benefits of Executive-Legislative Synergy
PYNS highlighted the importance of maintaining the current synergy between the executive and legislative branches, arguing that disrupting this alignment could harm legislative cohesion and derail key policies currently in motion under the Tinubu administration.
"When the executive and legislature are in sync, the country wins. Friction slows reforms, but synergy accelerates results. Automatic return tickets aren't political handouts — they're a stabilising force for continuity, especially when tied to performance," the statement noted.
The group urged the APC leadership, particularly the National Working Committee, to consider the broader implications of legislative continuity for policy stability, national unity, and electoral victory in 2027.
"We must stop treating experience as expendable. This is about national interest, not narrow ambition. Automatic return tickets for those who have earned it is not a shortcut but a strategic path to a stronger, more stable, and more successful 2027," the statement concluded.
