Stephen Nana, popularly known as Stevenator, has finally broken his silence on why he parted ways with Nigerian music star Asake after serving as his manager from 2022 to 2024.

In a viral interview circulating on social media, Stevenator revealed that Asake's meteoric rise to fame became overwhelming, making it increasingly difficult to balance his professional responsibilities with family life.

"Asake became way too big that I have to be following him everywhere he goes. So, I'm now a family man, and I love my wife," Stevenator explained in the interview.

The former manager disclosed that he had no prior experience in artist management when YBNL boss Olamide approached him with the opportunity to manage Asake.

"Olamide called me one day and told me that he had an artiste he would want me to manage. And that was the first time I'm going into management. I don't know anything about the job. I have been friends with Olamide for over 20 years," he said.

Stevenator admitted that Asake's rapid success left little room for him to properly learn the ropes of artist management. "I never met Asake before. I don't know anything about him and I have never heard his song before. And I cannot learn the job on the job. Asake blew up so quickly that there was no time to learn the job, so it was back to back," he added.

Family Concerns Led to Decision

The former manager highlighted how the demands of managing a fast-rising star significantly impacted his family life, particularly his relationship with his children.

"The challenge was my family. At a time I had two sons and I did not have time to spend with them. I'm a family guy, I have not been able to be there for my family but still then I still have to make money so they can live a better life," he explained.

In a particularly emotional revelation, Stevenator recounted a heartbreaking moment that influenced his decision: "Sometimes we are on the road for four to five months. I'm always on my phone with my kids. So I asked them to come to London and my second son refused me to carry him because he doesn't know me."

This incident appears to have been a turning point, leading him to conclude: "For me to be able to balance my work and family, I have to step down."

Despite the challenges, Stevenator expressed gratitude to Olamide for the opportunity to work with Asake during a crucial period in the singer's career.

Asake has continued to rise in prominence in the Nigerian music industry since their split, recently making headlines for leaving Olamide's YBNL record label to establish his own imprint.
