The Osun State Police Command has successfully apprehended a 42-year-old serial burglar, Ademola Olaosun, who has been terrorizing residents of Abiodun community in Ota-Efun, Osogbo.

Commissioner of Police Mohammed Umar Abba, through a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi on Saturday, revealed that Olaosun was caught after breaking into a victim's house on May 8, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., where he stole an LG Plasma TV, a 6kg gas cylinder, and an umbrella.

"In its unwavering efforts to improve on the existing low crime tempo in the state, in collaboration with the members of Abiodun community, Ota-Efun, the Command succeeded in the arrest of one Adewumi Ademola Olaosun, 'm' 42 years," the statement read.

The police spokesperson added that the alarm raised by the complainant led to Olaosun's apprehension with assistance from community members. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of two accomplices: Adedokun Isiaka, 57, and Abdullahi Hassan, 62, who were identified as receivers of the stolen items.

Multiple Victims Identify Suspects

According to the police, the suspects have been operating in Abiodun, Kelebe, and surrounding areas. Four additional victims from these communities identified the suspects as having previously burgled their homes in incidents reported on April 24, 2025.

"The suspects confessed to having engaged in several burglaries," Ojelabi stated.

Extensive Recovery of Stolen Items

Police recovered numerous items from the suspects, including:

- Five kegs of palm oil
- Multiple gas cylinders (two 6kg and three 3kg)
- Several electronics including three plasma TVs, two speakers, two video CD players
- One aluminum fabricator cutting machine
- Household items including a mattress, pressing irons, and a single tabletop fridge
- Various foodstuffs and vegetable oil

The police have confirmed that all three suspects have been charged to court and remanded at a correctional facility.
