Former Big Brother Naija reality star, Chukwuemeka Okoye, popularly known as Frodd, has revealed his traumatic experience of being molested as a child by several house helps employed by his family.

In a candid post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Frodd disclosed that he suffered physical molestation from ages 5 to 9 at the hands of different house helps, with the exception of his nanny who cared for him during infancy.

"As a child, I was physically molested from the age of 5 to about 9 by different house helps we had except for the lady that nurtured me at my baby stage (Aunty Chinenye)," Frodd wrote. He added that a neighbor was also among his abusers.

The reality star explained that he was unable to confide in his parents about the abuse because they "didn't give us that relationship and they never read the room." His revelation comes amid ongoing conversations about sexual abuse following controversial entertainer Speed Darlington's recent admission—later claimed to be a prank—about defiling a minor.

Call for Parental Vigilance

Frodd urged parents to be more attentive to behavioral changes in their children, particularly regarding their interactions with adults. "When your little boy or girl starts becoming attracted or irritated by a big aunty or uncle (watch those aunty's well)," he cautioned, suggesting these could be warning signs of potential abuse.

His testimony highlights the critical importance of creating safe communication channels between parents and children, enabling young ones to speak up about uncomfortable or abusive situations.

Child protection advocates have long emphasized that open communication, age-appropriate education about personal boundaries, and vigilant observation of behavioral changes are essential tools in preventing and addressing child abuse.

Frodd's disclosure adds to growing conversations about child safety in Nigerian households, particularly regarding the screening and supervision of domestic staff who have close contact with children.
