The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted precision airstrikes against Boko Haram terrorists in Bita, Borno State, killing scores of insurgents and destroying their stronghold in what military officials describe as one of the most decisive blows against the terrorist group in recent times.

According to a statement released on Friday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Friday by NAF combat aircraft under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

"In the early hours of today, NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what has been described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times," the statement read.

The highly coordinated assault, executed under the cover of darkness, represents a significant advancement in ongoing efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements undermining national security in the North East region of Nigeria.

Following the successful air operation, ground forces have commenced clearance and exploitation operations to consolidate the gains achieved from the airstrikes.

The NAF reassured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to defending the nation's territorial integrity and protecting law-abiding citizens. The military emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure terrorist elements have no haven anywhere within the country.

This operation marks a substantial milestone in the military's efforts to degrade the operational capacity of terrorists threatening national security in the region, as the fight against insurgency in Nigeria's northeastern states continues.
