The Enugu State Government has officially commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for the arrest of Obi Levi Obieze, a suspected ritualist and kidnap kingpin who was apprehended along the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to flee the country.

Properties Already Demolished
The government also disclosed that Obieze's mansions at his Umumba Ndiagu country home in Ezeagu Local Government Area had already been demolished on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This action was taken in accordance with Section 315 (Second Amendment) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 30, Laws of Enugu State, which provides for the demolition of properties linked to kidnapping activities.

Call for Community Vigilance
The government praised the vigilance of community members and both state and non-state security actors for exposing the crime. It also issued a stern warning to community leaders, including traditional rulers, Presidents-General of Town Unions, and Neighbourhood Watch groups, to remain watchful and report suspicious persons to authorities.
"This administration will not condone any form of criminality in our communities under any guise," the statement emphasized, adding that "those who cover up for such criminals will also be treated as accomplices."
The government assured the public that the suspect would face the full weight of the law for his alleged crimes, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring justice in the state.
Obieze had reportedly been on the run after his alleged underground site filled with dead victims was discovered in his community, creating tension and concern among residents of Enugu State.
