A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has called on Nigerians to broaden their demands for accountability beyond President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to include governors, senators, and other elected officials.

Mumuni made these remarks while assessing President Tinubu's second year in office, emphasizing that while presidential accountability remains crucial, equal scrutiny should be directed toward leaders at state and local levels.

"While it is crucial to hold our President accountable for his policies and decisions, I urge all Nigerians to also direct scrutiny towards the leaders who serve at the state and local levels," Mumuni stated in a release signed by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar.

The APC chieftain lamented that many Nigerians often hold the President solely responsible for all national challenges while neglecting the significant roles played by governors, legislators, and other elected officials in policymaking and implementation.

Call for Comprehensive Accountability

Mumuni emphasized that governors and legislators play pivotal roles in shaping community well-being, making it essential for citizens to thoroughly examine their performance and commitment to constituents.

"Each level of government has its duties, mandates, and responsibilities, and it is incumbent upon us, the citizens, to demand equal accountability from all our elected officials," he noted.

The APC stalwart encouraged Nigerians to ask pertinent questions about governance in their respective states, particularly regarding improvements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure under their governors' leadership.

"By holding our state leaders accountable, we can create a more comprehensive and constructive narrative about our nation's governance. It is only through collective scrutiny of all levels of leadership that we can pave the way for genuine progress and development," Mumuni concluded.
