Udenta Udenta, the founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), has described the recent wave of endorsements for President Bola Tinubu as evidence that the Federal Government is operating in "panic mode" ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday's edition of Channels Television's The Morning Brief, Udenta criticized the timing of these endorsements, which have come nearly two years before the next presidential election.
"We have virtually two years or slightly less into the election; the regime panicked, that's why it went into election mode two years ahead of time," Udenta stated.
In recent weeks, President Tinubu has received endorsements from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governors from opposition parties, a development Udenta suggests reflects anxiety within the administration.
"I predicted here in this studio that he would govern for less than two years, and it has happened. So, the defections, endorsements, calibrations, and re-endorsements will continue in perpetuity until the election season is upon us," he added.
The comments come as political realignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections, with various political figures and parties positioning themselves early in the electoral cycle.
Udenta's critique highlights growing scrutiny of the administration's governance focus, suggesting that the early campaign-like activities indicate a shift away from governance priorities toward re-election strategies.
The Tinubu administration recently marked its second anniversary in office, with mixed reviews from political analysts and opposition figures regarding its performance on economic reforms and security challenges.
