The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially distanced itself from circulating messages urging candidates to reprint their examination slips for another resit examination.
In a statement released by JAMB's Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the board clarified that these misleading messages, which come through a "spoofed version" of its 66019 short code, are fraudulent and not from the examination body.
"There are currently no scheduled examinations, and candidates who have successfully completed the resit examination and received their results need not be concerned. Such messages are fraudulent and intended to sow confusion," Benjamin stated.
The board emphasized that the only upcoming examinations are the foreign UTME to be conducted in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and certain African nations, though dates have not yet been scheduled.
Upcoming Mop-up Examination
Additionally, JAMB confirmed plans for a mop-up examination specifically for two categories of candidates:
1. Those who missed both the main and resit examinations
2. Candidates who experienced biometric failures and have been granted special waivers for the 2025 examination cycle
"We urge the public to disregard these deceptive messages. Those qualified for the mop-up examination, as specified, will be duly notified once preparations are finalised," the statement added.
This warning comes as candidates who participated in the recently concluded UTME resit have already received their results, with some reporting significant improvements in their scores.
JAMB advised candidates to rely only on official communications from the board through its verified channels and to be vigilant against potential scams targeting examination candidates.
