Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted three members of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in Ondo State following a Bible study session on Monday.
The victims were returning from their religious gathering at the Kasemola axis of Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area when they were attacked and forcibly taken into the bush.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the kidnappers had strategically positioned themselves, waiting for the church members before launching their attack.
A member of the church, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the abduction in a message seeking prayers: "Good morning, beloved. Kindly pray along with us. Three of our members were kidnapped yesterday (Monday) after Bible study at Kasemola inside the Ogbese axis."
The church community has reportedly begun seeking divine intervention for the safe release of their abducted members, while also formally reporting the incident to both the police and the Amotekun Corps in the state.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers have established contact with demands for a ₦5 million ransom to secure the release of the victims.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that security operatives have been deployed to the community. He emphasized that personnel are already combing bushes and forests in the area in efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
This incident adds to the growing concern over insecurity in various parts of Nigeria, with religious gatherings increasingly becoming targets for criminal elements.
