Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has strongly refuted viral reports claiming he divorced his wife Precious Hassanity because she mocked his music career on social media.

The controversy began when an X (formerly Twitter) user with the handle @Verity_HQ published alleged statements from Skales, claiming the artist had divorced his wife after she joined online trolls in mocking his musical career.

According to the viral post, Skales supposedly said: "I d!vorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don't rêgret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got ãngry. People cannot be m0cking your husband's music career, the music that is paying your bills and you join them to m0ck him."

The post further alleged that Skales had said: "She should've defended me or, better still, stayed quiet. I wasn't totally wr0ng for dîvorcing her because a woman who doesn't support your hustle isn't a good wife."

Responding to these claims, Skales categorically denied making such statements, describing the report as "false" and the blogger's actions as "evil and unfair."

"This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies," the singer wrote in response to the allegations.

Skales married Precious Hassanity, who is a chef by profession, in September 2021. However, their relationship appeared to face challenges in November 2022 when the rapper shared snippets of an unreleased track that seemed to target his wife with harsh criticism.

The lyrics of the song suggested that his wife could have saved his mother, Martina Aiyewa, who had passed away weeks earlier, but did not. Following his mother's death, Skales had hinted at marital problems when he posted on social media: "In all you do, make sure you don't marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health."

While the couple's current relationship status remains unclear, Skales has made it clear that the specific allegations about divorcing his wife over social media comments are fabricated.
