Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to child welfare as Nigeria celebrates the 2025 Children's Day on Tuesday.

In his statement marking the occasion, Governor Abdulrazaq emphasized that "every child deserves to live and prosper in dignity," adding that this responsibility falls on all adults who serve as role models.

"As a government, we continue to invest in quality basic education and basic healthcare, while implementing policies that make the world a better place for them," the governor stated.

The governor highlighted his administration's initiatives aimed at improving children's welfare, including investments in basic education, child and maternal healthcare, anti-hawking policies, six-month paid maternal leave, and child-protection laws.

Abdulrazaq expressed support for this year's Children's Day theme: "Stand up, speak up: building a bullying-free generation," noting that the state's KwaraLEARN program provides authorities with "unfettered access to classrooms in every corner of the state."

"We have since enacted the Violence Against Persons Law to protect every Kwaran, including children, from any form of violence," he added.

The governor also noted that school children now have direct access to high-level education authorities in the state to ensure their interests are protected.

Abdulrazaq expressed pride in the state's achievements, including having the lowest under-five mortality rate nationwide and the success of Kwara students in leading their peers across the country.

The governor mentioned the recently established KwaraLEARN program and education trust fund as part of the government's multi-pronged approach to children's welfare, while inviting all stakeholders to contribute to ensuring that Kwara children thrive.
