Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully foiled a bandit attack in Jen village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, following a swift response to a distress call on Sunday.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the information via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the military personnel responded promptly when they received the distress call at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

"On sighting the advancing troops, the suspected bandits fled the scene. The soldiers pursued and successfully crossed a nearby river to clear the bandits' suspected avenue of approach on the opposite side," Makama reported.

The timely military intervention prevented what could have resulted in casualties and property damage in the community. Following the operation, the security situation in Jen village and surrounding areas has been described as calm and stable.

Military authorities have intensified patrols in the area and are maintaining a strong presence to deter any further incursions by criminal elements. The operation demonstrates the military's commitment to protecting vulnerable communities in Nigeria's northeastern region, which has faced increasing security challenges in recent years.

Operation Whirl Stroke is a military operation established to address security challenges in the North Central states of Nigeria, including parts of Taraba State, and has been instrumental in combating banditry and other forms of insecurity in the region.
