An explosion suspected to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) killed one person and injured another on Monday near Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja, Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory.
According to an eyewitness account from a military personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity, the deceased is believed to be a suicide bomber who was killed by an explosive contained in a rubber can close to the barracks.
However, military authorities present at the scene have offered a different perspective, suggesting that the explosion might have been caused by a phone device rather than an IED.
