Retired General Nuhu Angbazo, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.

Angbazo made his declaration on Sunday during a strategic meeting with key stakeholders from his Wakama community, held at the palace of District Head Adams Maka Nangba.

During his address, the former Nigerian Army General emphasized that he possesses the necessary capacity, experience, and knowledge to govern Nasarawa State effectively. He appealed for support and prayers from community leaders, stressing that his vision centers on transforming the state through inclusive and transparent governance.

"I have come to formally inform you of my desire to contest the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State," Angbazo stated. "I am seeking your support and prayers because this journey is not mine alone but for all of us. Together, we can build a Nasarawa that works for everyone."

The retired military officer promised to address the state's pressing challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, and infrastructural deficits, if given the mandate to lead.

The declaration meeting was well-attended by various stakeholders, including community leaders, youth representatives, and residents from different walks of life. Attendees reportedly commended Angbazo for his initiative in seeking to "rescue" Nasarawa State from its current challenges.

Political analysts note that Angbazo's declaration adds a significant name to the growing list of aspirants vying for the governorship seat currently occupied by Governor Abdullahi Sule, as political activities for the 2027 election cycle begin to intensify in the state.
