Armed bandits have attacked Katuru village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, injuring two residents and abducting two women in a midnight raid.
The attack occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, according to eyewitness accounts shared with Zagazola Makama. The assailants reportedly opened fire on villagers before fleeing with the abducted women to an undisclosed location.
Following the attack, troops of the Nigerian Army responded to the scene and evacuated the wounded victims to General Hospital in Shinkafi for medical treatment.
Military authorities have confirmed that search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate and secure the release of the abducted women.
This incident adds to the growing list of bandit attacks in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with security challenges for several years. The northwestern region of Nigeria continues to face persistent threats from armed groups carrying out kidnappings, killings, and raids on rural communities.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack, but security agencies have intensified efforts to combat banditry in the region.
