A Minna Senior Magistrate Court Six has remanded three suspects in correctional custody following charges of attempted culpable homicide and other offenses.
The defendants, identified as Malik Abdullahi, Zakariya Abdullahi, and Suleiman Isyaku, all residents of Tamaworo Village in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State, appeared before Senior Magistrate Hajiya Halima Balaraba Yusuf on Saturday.
According to the police First Information Report presented in court, the trio, alongside 18 others still at large, faces a five-count charge including criminal conspiracy, trespass, extortion, attempted culpable homicide, and mischief.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants attacked farmers working on Abubakar Andrew's farm in the Ladazo area of Nku village. During the assault, two individuals—Ibrahim Olaniya and Emmanuel Silas Jiya—sustained injuries.
The attack reportedly resulted in significant property damage, including the destruction of six motorcycles valued at N1,361,000, 16 mobile phones, and cash amounting to N398,000.
Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, the defendants were denied bail after the police prosecutor argued that one of the charges was not ordinarily bailable.
The court has adjourned the case until June 27, 2025, for further mention.
This case comes amid growing concerns about violent confrontations in rural communities across Niger State, with authorities working to address conflicts between different groups in the region.
