Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has alleged that President Bola Tinubu will strategically plant moles within the emerging opposition coalition to prevent it from effectively working against his administration.

Adeyanju's comments came in response to the chaos that erupted during a coalition meeting in Abuja on Sunday, which was attended by prominent political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party's Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The meeting, organized by the National Political Consultative Group (North), descended into disorder when delegates from Jigawa State disrupted proceedings. The incident occurred after former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, announced a delegation to speak from Jigawa State.

According to reports, the Jigawa delegates stormed the stage, blocking the designated speaker and insisting they would not be represented by those named. Security operatives quickly moved to protect Atiku, Amaechi, and other high-profile attendees as tension escalated at the venue.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Adeyanju claimed: "Tinubu will plant moles around all of them enough to make the coalition never work like it did in 2023. There's nothing Tinubu hates more than a united opposition. He governed Lagos since 1999 by crushing opposition."

The coalition meeting was reportedly part of ongoing efforts by opposition figures to form a united front ahead of future political contests. Other notable attendees included Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who was Peter Obi's running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

Political analysts view this development as a significant indicator of realignments taking place within Nigeria's opposition landscape, though the disruption raises questions about internal cohesion among the various factions seeking to unite.

The Presidency has not yet responded to Adeyanju's allegations about potential interference in opposition activities.
