Anambra-based Nigeria National League (NNL) club Edel FC has officially declared player Emmanuel Ibeakamma missing, describing him as Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) since April 2025.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the club management expressed concern over the player's unexplained disappearance and revealed that multiple attempts to contact him have proven unsuccessful.

"The management of Edel FC, after a careful and patient wait, wishes to inform the relevant football authorities and fans that Mr. Emmanuel Ibeakamma has been Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) since April 2025," the statement read in part.

The club further noted that despite exhausting various communication channels to reach the player, there has been no response regarding his whereabouts or intentions to return to the team.

Edel FC emphasized that Ibeakamma's disappearance constitutes "a clear violation of the club's professional code of conduct" and stressed that they are treating the matter with "utmost seriousness" as the player remains under contract with the club until 2028.

The second-tier Nigerian club did not provide further details about potential disciplinary measures or the circumstances surrounding Ibeakamma's disappearance.

This development comes as the NNL season progresses, with several clubs including Wikki Tourists and Barau FC recently securing Super Eight playoff tickets, while others like Godswill Akpabio FC are fighting to avoid relegation.

Football authorities are yet to comment on the situation as Edel FC continues its campaign in the Nigeria National League.
