Kun Khalifat FC has secured their spot in the prestigious Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoff tournament after finishing top of the Group B table with 37 points from 19 matches.
The Owerri-based club confirmed their qualification following a 1-1 draw against Godswill Akpabio FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Saturday. This result was enough to cement their position at the summit of their group and book their place in the season-ending tournament.
Third Team to Qualify
In a statement released after securing their playoff ticket, Kun Khalifat FC highlighted their achievement: "Out of 36 teams, we were the third to qualify to Super Eight of the ongoing NNL 2024/25."
The club added, "It's time to plan more smarter and work more harder so we crown all our efforts this season and put smiles on everyone that has ever believed in us KKFC."
Northern Conference Qualifiers
BenriNews reports that four teams have already qualified from the Northern Conference for the playoff competition. These include Barau FC, Doma United, Wikki Tourists, and Yobe Desert Stars.
The Super Eight playoff tournament serves as the final hurdle for teams seeking promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), the country's top-flight football division.
