Gateway United FC will return to their traditional home ground, the MKO Sports Arena in Abeokuta, for their final home fixture of the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season against Osun United on Saturday.
The Abeokuta-based club has been playing their home matches at alternative venues including the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode and the Gateway International Stadium in Ilaro due to renovation works at their primary ground.
A Homecoming for Gateway United
The return to MKO Sports Arena, also known as Kuto, represents more than just a change of venue for the club. Gateway United's general manager, Niyi Soleye, emphasized the emotional significance of this homecoming.
"Returning to Kuto for our final home game is more than just a logistical shift — it's a moment of reconnection," Soleye told the club's media. "This is where the soul of the club resides. The fans, the energy, the history — it all comes together here."
Soleye added, "We're proud to be back, and we want to give our supporters something to remember. However, we thank our teeming supporters in Ilaro and Ijebu Ode for the immense support. We don't take that for granted."
The match against Osun United will be Gateway United's final home appearance in the 2025 NNL season, giving fans in Abeokuta a chance to see their team in action at their traditional home ground before the season concludes.
Gateway United will be looking to capitalize on the familiar surroundings and the support of their home crowd as they face Osun United in this important fixture.
