Nigerian international defender Igoh Ogbu has committed his future to Czech League champions Slavia Prague by signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until December 2027.
The 25-year-old center-back, who joined Slavia Prague from Norwegian outfit Lillestrøm in January 2023, has established himself as a key player for the Czech champions over the past two and a half years.
Since his arrival at Eden Park, Ogbu has made an impressive 92 appearances for the club, contributing five goals during his tenure. His consistent performances at the heart of Slavia's defense have been instrumental in the team's domestic success.
The defender's club form has not gone unnoticed at the international level. Earlier this year, Ogbu received his first call-up to the Super Eagles, adding international recognition to his growing reputation in European football.
Prior to his senior national team involvement, Ogbu was part of Nigeria's Flying Eagles squad that participated in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, highlighting his progression through the national team ranks.
The contract extension represents a vote of confidence from Slavia Prague in the Nigerian defender's abilities and suggests he will continue to play a significant role in the club's domestic and European campaigns in the coming seasons.
Ogbu's development at Slavia Prague adds to the growing list of Nigerian defenders making their mark in European football, providing additional defensive options for the Super Eagles as they navigate their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.
