The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commemorated its 61st anniversary with a captivating aerial display over Lagos on Friday, showcasing the force's operational capabilities and commitment to national security.
The high-profile event, observed from the rooftop of Eko Hotel, drew distinguished guests including the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, alongside foreign air chiefs and delegates attending the African Air Forces Forum (AAFF).
NAF aircraft performed tactical flight manoeuvres and coordinated formations, demonstrating the force's discipline and readiness to defend Nigeria's territorial airspace. The display served as both a celebration of the force's six decades of service and a demonstration of its growing capabilities.
The aerial exhibition formed a significant part of the AAFF, which brings together air force leaders from across the continent to strengthen regional cooperation, exchange strategic insights, and address shared security challenges facing African nations.
"This forum reinforces Nigeria's leadership role in fostering defence collaboration on the continent," a NAF spokesperson noted during the event.
The anniversary celebration highlights NAF's expanding role in regional peacekeeping operations and airspace security, underscoring Nigeria's commitment to continental stability and security cooperation.
