The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Paul for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death following a dispute over missing money in Ugbokodo, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on Thursday evening at the Ugbokodo waterside. The suspect, popularly known as Papa Jeffery, allegedly killed his younger brother, Saturday, over an argument involving N2,000.

Investigations revealed that the dispute began when N2,000 belonging to Paul's wife went missing. She accused Saturday of stealing the money, which he denied. The situation escalated when she seized his shirt during a heated argument, prompting Saturday to slap her before neighbors intervened.

Following the altercation, the woman contacted her husband, who rushed to the scene with one of his sons. Without investigating the matter, they reportedly tracked Saturday to the waterside, where they beat and stabbed him multiple times until he died.

The incident triggered outrage in the community, with angry youths setting fire to the suspect's house and his wife's shop. Military personnel and police officers had to intervene to restore order in the area.

CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, who leads the Delta State Police Command, confirmed that the suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of domestic disputes escalating to violence. Authorities continue to investigate the matter as the community comes to terms with the shocking event.
