The Abia State Harmonized Task Force (ASHTF), Aba Zone, has sealed a supermarket following a violent attack on its personnel during an enforcement operation.
According to a statement issued by ASHTF media officer, Miracle Chukwunenye, task force personnel were attempting to impound a vehicle parked in front of the supermarket for obstructing traffic when they were attacked.
The statement revealed that the owner of the supermarket allegedly incited a group of young men who descended on an ASHTF official, beating him "to stupor" during the confrontation.
"In response, ASHTF has sealed the supermarket pending a full investigation and has demanded that the owner present himself to account for his actions," the statement said.
The task force warned that further attacks on its personnel would be met with "the full weight of the law."
As of the time of this report, the owner of the sealed supermarket, who is currently at large, was not available to respond to the allegations.
This incident highlights ongoing tensions between business owners and government enforcement agencies in Abia State, particularly in the commercial hub of Aba.
