A 23-year-old woman, Abigail Victor, has been arraigned before a Magistrate's Court in Kaduna State for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during a heated argument over suspected infidelity.
According to court documents, Victor, a resident of Ungwan Sunday area of Kaduna, is facing two counts of conspiracy and causing grievous bodily harm following an incident that occurred on May 17, 2025, in Sabon Tasha.
Prosecutor Inspector Chidi Leo informed the court that the altercation began when Victor accused her boyfriend, Dominic James, of being unfaithful. The situation reportedly escalated when Victor called two friends to join her at James' residence.
"In anger, she reportedly called two friends who joined her at the complainant's residence, where they allegedly beat him and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife," Leo stated during the court proceedings.
The prosecutor added that concerned neighbors intervened and rushed the injured James to a hospital for medical treatment.
The alleged offenses contravene Sections 58 and 284 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017. If found guilty, Victor could face up to one year imprisonment for conspiracy and a minimum of five years for causing bodily harm.
Victor, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to her in court.
Presiding Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum. The court specified that the surety must be a blood relative of the defendant and present proof of three years of tax clearance from the Kaduna State Government.
The case has been adjourned to June 17, 2025, for the commencement of hearing.
