Nigerian troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully neutralized seven suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during separate clearance operations in Borno State, military sources confirmed on Thursday.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the operations via his official X handle, the first encounter occurred on Wednesday when troops of 3 Battalion, alongside Hybrid Forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged terrorists attempting to loot food items from a broken-down vehicle along the Gamboru–Ngala Main Supply Route near Rann.

The military personnel responded with decisive firepower, killing six terrorists and recovering two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines. One magazine contained four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, while the other had six rounds.

In a separate operation, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai conducted an intelligence-led ambush near Komala village along the Maiduguri–Damboa road in Damboa Local Government Area. The operation targeted insurgents believed to be moving toward the Sambisa Forest, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist.

During this second operation, the troops also recovered several motorcycles and materials used for assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were allegedly intended to be planted along the route to target security forces and civilians.

Military sources described these operations as part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and ensure the safety of civilians across the Northeast region, which has been plagued by insurgency for over a decade.

The successful operations demonstrate the Nigerian military's continued commitment to combating terrorism in the region and protecting vulnerable communities from insurgent attacks.
