The Nigeria Police Force has received a significant boost to its operational capabilities with the acquisition of seven Modified Light Tactical Armoured Vehicles, as revealed during an inspection by the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, on Monday.
The inspection took place at the Federal Secretariat, Phase III, in Abuja, where the Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anuma Ogbonaya Nlia, and top management officials from the Ministry.
According to Senator Gaidam, the tactical vehicles were procured through the Ministry's budgetary allocation and will be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force to enhance their security operations nationwide.
"They are supposed to use it professionally to combat insecurity in the country," the Minister emphasized during the inspection.
This acquisition comes at a critical time when Nigeria faces numerous security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping across various regions of the country. The new vehicles are expected to strengthen the police force's capacity to respond effectively to these threats.
The Modified Light Tactical Vehicles are specially designed for security operations and will provide the police with improved mobility and protection while carrying out their duties of securing lives and property.
This development aligns with ongoing efforts by the federal government to equip security agencies with modern tools and equipment needed to address the country's security challenges effectively.
