The leadership of the Atiku-led proposed 2027 National Coalition has officially denied adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the upcoming general elections, contrary to reports circulating in some media outlets.

Malam Salihu Lukman, a prominent member of the Coalition and former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), issued a statement on Thursday refuting these claims and addressing other inaccuracies in recent media reports.

"My attention has been drawn to the Vanguard Newspaper publication claiming that I have been appointed to head the Secretariat of the coalition. The public should disregard the story as it is completely false. No such decision has been taken," Lukman stated.

He further clarified: "Also false is the report that the coalition has adopted the ADC at its meeting of Tuesday, May 20, 2025."

According to Lukman, negotiations among coalition leaders are progressing well, with final decisions regarding the political platform for the 2027 elections expected to be announced soon. He emphasized that once negotiations conclude, the coalition leadership will make a formal announcement.

The coalition, reportedly led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has been the subject of significant political speculation as various opposition figures appear to be aligning forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political analysts view these coalition-building efforts as strategic positioning to challenge the incumbent administration in the upcoming electoral cycle. The choice of political platform remains a critical decision that will shape the coalition's campaign strategy and public perception.

As Nigeria's political landscape continues to evolve in preparation for 2027, further developments regarding this coalition and its eventual political platform choice will be closely monitored by political observers and the electorate alike.
