In a significant political development, all three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators representing Osun State have publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections, despite being from the opposition party.

The endorsement came through a joint statement issued in Abuja by Senators Kamarudeen Lere Oyewumi (Osun West), Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), and Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East), who collectively form the Osun State Senators' Caucus of the PDP.

In their statement, the senators praised President Tinubu's infrastructural and economic achievements, noting that his policies have resulted in "tangible benefits, a significant reduction in food prices and improvements in national security."

"This overwhelming endorsement goes beyond mere symbolism; it is a clear reflection of genuine confidence and satisfaction with President Tinubu's delivery of democratic dividends," the senators declared.

Responding to this development, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a gubernatorial aspirant in Osun, commended the PDP senators for their stance but urged them to take a further step by officially joining the APC.

Speaking through the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation (SABCO) in a statement issued by Professor Remi Ajala in Osogbo on Wednesday, Basiru described the senators' move as "an act of truthfulness and statesmanship."

"We appreciate that these senators have acknowledged the Renewed Hope Agenda and how it is beginning to positively impact their constituencies," the statement read.

Basiru emphasized that the lawmakers should not stop at mere endorsement but should fully align themselves with the APC to cement their commitment to Tinubu's leadership. "Pitching your tent with the APC will help bring the needed development to Osun APC-led state government when inaugurated in 2026," he stated.

The APC National Secretary further stressed the importance of political synergy between federal lawmakers and the state government to accelerate growth in sectors such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

"We call on the three Osun PDP senators to display courage and show real leadership by joining forces with progressive elements," Basiru added, encouraging them to emulate other National Assembly members who have defected from their original parties to the APC.

According to him, full integration into the ruling party would not only validate their endorsement but also position their constituencies for greater federal support and development initiatives under the Tinubu administration.
