The body of Osemudiamen Idemudia, a 26-year-old banker who was reported missing earlier this month, has been discovered at a morgue in Yaba, Lagos State with evidence of violent attack.

Idemudia, who worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in the Ikota area, was last seen on the evening of May 9 around CMS, Lagos Island, before his disappearance.

A family member identified as Segun confirmed the tragic discovery on Sunday following an extensive search through hospitals and mortuaries across Lagos State.

"We have found Osemudiamen's body. He was murdered. We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I'm so sad," Segun stated.

According to the family member, the nature and extent of the injuries strongly suggest that the young banker was brutally attacked and killed.

The case has been complicated by limited information regarding the circumstances of Idemudia's death. Morgue attendants reportedly informed the family that police officers had deposited the body, but were unable to provide details about the officers involved or the location where the body was recovered.

"The staff members of the morgue claimed that the body was brought in by the police but when we asked where they brought the body from, they could not provide an answer," Segun explained. "They said they did not have details of the policemen who brought the corpse to their facility. That made the discovery more complicated."

The remains of the deceased were buried by the family on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the Lagos State Police Command regarding the circumstances surrounding Idemudia's death or any ongoing investigation into the apparent murder.
