The Military Widows Association (MIWA), Kebbi State chapter, has categorically denied reports alleging that its members were subjected to sexual harassment by senior military officers in Abuja as a condition for receiving their deceased husbands' benefits.

Speaking at a press conference in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, the state coordinator of the association, Hajiya Asmau Noma, dismissed the allegations published by several online platforms as "false, misleading, and baseless."

"I was taken aback and dumbfounded by the circulating report claiming that our members were harassed by the military higher command. The story is bogus, fake, and has no iota of truth. We, the leaders and members of the association, completely distance ourselves from such a report," Noma stated.

The coordinator emphasized that at no point did the association make such allegations against military leadership. She clarified that the claims published in the report do not reflect the position of MIWA in Kebbi State.

Noma further explained that the process for accessing death benefits varies depending on the unit in which the deceased officer served, adding, "We don't go through any strenuous process before receiving what is due to us."

She urged the public to disregard the false reports and assured that the association maintains a respectful relationship with military authorities regarding the processing of entitlements for widows of fallen servicemen.

The allegations, which had gained traction on some online platforms, suggested that military widows were being subjected to inappropriate demands before receiving their rightful benefits. The Kebbi chapter's strong denial serves to counter these claims and protect the reputation of both the association and military leadership.
