Tragedy struck in Ore, Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State, as a commercial motorcyclist identified as Nazifi Ibrahim was killed by unknown assailants suspected to be motorcycle snatchers on Tuesday night.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the deceased, who hailed from Northern Nigeria, was attacked around 10:40 p.m. after taking a passenger to Alafia Street in Ore. The assailants gruesomely murdered Ibrahim before making away with his motorcycle.

The incident has reportedly caused tension in the area as the victim was well-known among his colleagues. A source close to the situation stated, "We don't know what transpired between the deceased and the unknown assailants before he was shot dead."

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, saying, "Yes, an incident occurred in Ore, and upon receipt of the information, the DPO in Ore and his team moved to where the lifeless body of the victim was seen. His bike was carted away, according to an eyewitness account."

Ayanlade further stated that the command has launched an immediate manhunt for those responsible, and investigations are ongoing. He also confirmed that the victim has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that an investigation to unravel the culprits, with a view to facilitating their arrest and prosecution, has commenced.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about security in Ondo State, particularly related to motorcycle theft and attacks on commercial riders. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
