The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally affirmed its commitment to the One-China Principle, officially recognizing Taiwan as an integral part of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Dr. Mustapha Salihu, APC National Vice-Chairman (North-East), made this declaration on Wednesday, emphasizing that the party fully aligns with the Federal Government's diplomatic position on the matter.

"China is a significant partner for our nation; they regard us as equals rather than a lesser nation. This perspective fosters a relationship of mutual progress. Therefore, it is wise for the government to support the One-China Principle," Salihu stated.

The APC leader highlighted that the party's policies and principles mirror those of the Federal Government in diplomatic matters, particularly regarding international relations with strategic partners like China.

Salihu lauded the positive outcomes of Nigeria-China diplomatic relations, pointing to substantial achievements in trade, investment, and infrastructural development across the country.

"Our partnership with China has yielded substantial results. We have witnessed the construction of extensive roads, bridges, and railways by Chinese companies, with counterpart funding from the Chinese government," he added.

The APC has expressed readiness to further strengthen ties with the Communist Party of China (CPC) through enhanced collaboration in several key areas, including cultural exchange, trade, education, and human capital development.

"We are dedicated to fostering mutual growth and reinforcing our historic partnership," Salihu emphasized, underscoring the party's commitment to maintaining and expanding the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China.

This declaration comes as Nigeria continues to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with China, which has become one of the country's largest trading partners and investors in infrastructure development projects.
